What causes U1000 code?

  • Controller Area Network (CAN) communication harness is open or shorted
  • Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)
  • Poor harness ground connection.

U1000  Possible Symptoms

  1. If the U1000 stands alone, no symptoms may be present
  2. Symptoms will likely be present synonymous with the secondary code indicating a particular failure-a failed climate control module or a failed automatic headlight-dimming module for example
  3. In the case of a known Nissan TSB (technical service bulletin), symptoms may include engine stalling, hesitation, lack of power, failure to start or other potential symptoms.
  4. Controller Area Network (CAN) communication harness is open or shorted
  5. Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)
  6. Poor harness ground connection.
  7. Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

 U1000 NISSAN Description

CAN (Controller Area Network) is a serial communication line for real time application. It is an on-vehicle multiplex communication line with high data communication speed and excellent error detection ability. Many electronic control units are equipped onto a vehicle, and each control unit shares information and links with other control units during operation (not independent). In CAN communication, control units are connected with 2 communication lines (CAN H line, CAN L line) allowing a high rate of information transmission with less wiring.
